Message from the Chief of Police
On behalf of the men and women of the Riverside Community College District Police Department, welcome to the District Police Department website. Through collaborative efforts and partnerships, the Riverside Community College District Police Department protects the life, property, and constitutional rights of our, students, faculty and staff with compassion and respect to ensure a safe and secure community in which to, learn, teach and work.
The District police department members are highly trained and highly motivated to deliver professional police, public safety, and parking services to every member of our diverse campus community. In order to provide efficient and effective service to our communities at the Riverside City Campus, Moreno Valley Campus, Norco Campus, and the Ben Clark Training Center, and Centennial Plaza, the District Police Department is fully committed to building and maintaining meaningful partnerships within the campuses; throughout the adjoining neighborhoods, and with all relevant local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
The Riverside Community College District Police Department is a POST certified full-service police agency operating in compliance with all state standards under California Penal Code §13522. Police officers are authorized by Penal Code §830.32 and Education Code §72330, with law enforcement authority that extends to any place in the state while performing our primary duty and is identical to the authority of municipal and county law enforcement officers. Officers receive the same basic and ongoing training as city and county peace officers, plus additional training to meet the unique needs of a campus environment.
The District Police Department provides services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The Department coordinates with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Riverside Police Department, operating under a memorandum of understanding agreement in the campus areas and surrounding communities.
As a member of the campus community, you are a pivotal component in ensuring that our neighborhoods remain safe.
Sincerely,
Mark DiMaggio
