RCCD Trustees Announce New President of Riverside City College
06/11/2026

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Riverside Community College District (RCCD) Board of Trustees held their monthly committee meeting. During closed session, the board approved the hiring of Eric Bishop, Ed.D., as the new president of Riverside City College (RCC). The announcement was made during the open session that followed.
RCCD’s Trustee President José Alcala indicated, “The Board of Trustees wholeheartedly supports the chancellor’s selection of President Bishop to serve as the chief executive officer of RCC.”
Riverside was first introduced to Bishop in July 2024, when he was selected to step in as the District’s interim vice chancellor of educational services. Then in August of 2025, Bishop became the interim president of RCC.
Prior to his arrival in Riverside, Bishop served as interim vice president of enrollment management for the University of La Verne. He began that role in 2022 after serving as Superintendent/President of the Ohlone Community College District (2020-2022), with campuses in Fremont and Newark, California.
Bishop is familiar with the Inland Empire having served 13 years at Chafey College in Rancho Cucamonga in a variety of roles, including, associate superintendent of student services and legislative engagement, dean of the Fontana Campus, interim dean of Physical Education and Athletics, director of Student Discipline and Grievance, and Vice President of Student Services.
He has also served in various community roles including the Fontana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the La Verne Bonita Band Booster Association, board president for Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana, serving the last four years as board chair, and numerous other chambers of commerce and non-profit boards. Bishop has a doctorate in organizational leadership (Ed.D.), master’s in communications and bachelor’s in journalism, all from the University of La Verne.
The selection of Bishop was made after a nationwide search conducted by the District’s search committee that included faculty, classified professionals, management, and community members. Candidates were interviewed by the 16-member committee, and finalists had further meetings with representatives of RCC’s constituency groups including students who participated in the public forums held on campus. Ultimately, each of the finalists met with Chancellor Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D., for the final interviews.
Chancellor Isaac observed, “President Bishop’s lifelong engagement in education has uniquely prepared him for his new role as president of RCC.” Isaac also mentioned, “He is a driving force behind raising the standard of care at RCC and throughout the District. As we put new tools and software in place to help our counselors, advisors, and faculty, better engage and interact with our students, President Bishop will ensure that these new resources are fully implemented. He is one hundred percent committed to helping all of us serve our students with a higher standard of care.”
Congratulations were extended to Bishop during the board of trustees meeting by those who were in attendance, including representatives of RCC’s Associated Students, the faculty association, classified employees, and management. Bishop will officially begin fulfilling his duties as RCC President on July 1, 2026.
