Exceptional Support in Action: PACT Students Surpass College Averages
02/18/2026

When Riverside Community College District launched Promoting Achievable College Transitions (PACT), the goal was clear: remove barriers and create a structured pathway to college success for students on the spectrum and otherwise neurodiverse students in our community.
During its first semester, PACT’s first cohort achieved a 79% course success rate, exceeding the college-wide average of 73.5% by more than five percentage points. Students also achieved an 88% course retention rate, within 1 percentage point of the institutional average of 89%.
Historically, students on the spectrum have experienced significantly lower success and persistence rates in higher education. PACT is helping to change that narrative.
The program provides dedicated college exploration and matriculation services to local high school seniors, followed by intentional, structured on-campus support during their first semester of college. Services are available to any student who identifies as being on the spectrum or otherwise neurodiverse, ensuring they not only access college but also thrive once they arrive.
These early outcomes reflect what is possible when thoughtful design, personalized support, and student determination intersect. PACT is more than a transition program. It is a model of inclusive excellence in action.
