Timeless Children's Classic Peter Pan Opens at Performance Riverside

Performance Riverside, the Inland Empire's most revered musical theatre company, presents the Broadway musical PETER PAN, February 7 through February 16 at the Landis Performing Arts Center on the campus of Riverside City College.

PETER PAN is a classic musical theatre experience that the entire family will remember and cherish. Based on the classic novel by J.M. Barrie, PETER PAN is sure to delight, with adventures of the original Lost Boy, Peter Pan, as he, his tribe of Lost Boys and his mischievous sidekick Tinkerbell fight the villainous Captain Hook and his band of bungling Pirates. With the help of the Darling children, Wendy, Michael and John, Peter conquers Captain Hook and his pirate crew and saves Neverland.

PETER PAN was originally produced on Broadway in 1954 starring Mary Martin as Peter and Cyril Ritchard as Captain Hook. Both stars won Tony Awards for their performances. Filled chock full of Broadway standards like "I've Gotta Crow," "Never Never Land" and "I'm Flying." PETER PAN was revived on Broadway three times (1980, 1991 and 1999), garnering Tony Awards for Best Revival of a Musical every time.

Starring in the title role of Peter Pan is Performance Riverside's legend, Morgan Reynolds, who appeared in last season's critically acclaimed production of NEWSIES. Prior to NEWSIES, Reynolds appeared as the Scarecrow in the touring company of the Andrew Lloyd Webber production of THE WIZARD OF OZ. Local musical theater star, Tucker Boyes, will take on the swashbuckling role of Captain Hook. Boyes has appeared locally as Gaston in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and in principal roles in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, CURTAINS and JANE EYRE. Rounding out the cast is Emily Abeles as Wendy Darling, Cruz de la Fuente as John Darling and Owen Switzer as Michael Darling.

PETER PAN performances will be held on February 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7 pm, and on February 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 2 pm in the Landis Performing Arts Center at Riverside City College, 4800 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside.
