The California MAP Initiative is proud to announce that Sigrid Williams, Ed.D., a faculty member at Norco College and Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) coordinator, recently published an article titled "Advocating for Student Access and Success: Credit for Prior Learning through the California MAP Initiative" in the Academic Senate for Community Colleges (ASCCC).

Williams' article delves into the California MAP Initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at enhancing equitable access, completion, transfer, and degree attainment for working adults and veterans. By offering credit for prior learning (CPL), the initiative acknowledges various non-college learning experiences, including industry certifications, military training, portfolio review, standardized assessments, and credit by exam. Williams emphasizes the pivotal role CPL plays in improving educational outcomes, narrowing equity gaps, addressing California's workforce needs, and fostering economic mobility.

The article also outlines the collaborative efforts of key organizations and institutions, including the ASCCC, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), and the California State University (CSU), in advancing CPL initiatives.

The California MAP Initiative and Norco College congratulate Sigrid Williams on this significant achievement and look forward to her continued contributions to promoting student success and access through CPL initiatives.
