Board Passes Resolution Requiring Vaccinations for Students and Employees
Dear Students,

As we prepare for a safe return to on-site instruction at Moreno Valley College (MVC), Norco College (NC), and Riverside City College (RCC), your health and safety are my priority. I want to assure each student that our faculty, staff, and administrators are committed to providing a safe environment for you to study, learn and achieve your academic goals. We are offering most classes online during the summer, but in the fall, approximately 80 percent of the classes will be back on campus and in-person.

COVID-19 Vaccinations Required

On June 15, the Riverside Community College District (RCCD) Board of Trustees approved a resolution to require FDA approved COVID-19 vaccinations for students, faculty, staff, and administrators who work or attend classes on-site at the colleges or District. While the COVID-19 vaccinations have not yet been approved by the FDA, we anticipate announcements regarding FDA approvals in the next few weeks as the move from emergency to regular approval of the vaccines has already begun.

If you plan to attend classes in-person at MVC, NC, or RCC this fall, I recommend that you be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before the semester begins. To avoid any problems in enrollment, you will need to make sure you have a valid COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card that shows the dates of your vaccinations. You will receive additional notifications with the specifics on providing this information.

Accommodations For Students Who Cannot Be Vaccinated

Some of you may have medical conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs that may prevent you from being vaccinated. You will need to seek accommodations from our student health offices and will be required to show proof of negative COVID-19 test results regularly.

COVID-19 Symptom Checking

At this point, we must all continue to monitor ourselves for symptoms of COVID-19. All students, district and college employees should download the Guardian App* or use the COVID-19 Symptom Checker** using your web browser, every day before arriving on campus. Right now, physical distancing and face coverings are still required when meeting on campus. Federal and state health officials have stated that these rules are changing. We will provide an update on this in August before fall classes begin. I am optimistic and am looking forward to seeing your full faces when we return to campus in the fall.

Sincerely,

Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D.
Chancellor, Riverside Community College District
