Award-Winning Guitarist to Perform at Coil Concert Hall

Award-winning classical guitarist Johannes Moller will perform on Wednesday, October 30, at 7 pm in the Henry W. Coil, Sr. and Alice Edna Coil School for the Arts Concert Hall. Riverside City College's Guitar Ensemble will also perform under the direction of Peter Curtis, associate professor of Music, and director of the Guitar Ensemble.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens and are only available at the door on the night of the performance.
Moller acquired his skills in performance and composition at an early age. His voice, which has been described as idiosyncratic, has helped him build a nationwide following and become a guitarist ambassador.
Since 2018, Moller has been the ambassador of Zheng'An Guitar in China. Zheng'An is a city in Guizhou which made guitar manufacturing and culture its main priority. The city has encouraged hundreds of guitar manufacturing companies to set up production there. Currently about five million guitars are produced there every year. Recently a concert hall was dedicated as well as a museum. A 99-meter guitar tower is currently under construction.
“RCC's support of music allows us to bring world class artists like Johann Moller to Riverside and have him perform in a world class hall at the Coil School for the Arts," Curtis said.
In 2010, Moller was awarded the top prize in the Guitar Foundation of America Concert Artist Competition, considered to be the most prestigious classical guitar competition in the world. Today he performs close to one hundred concerts per year and has developed a large following in China, Europe, Australia, and North and South America.
His name has been added to the wall of the Concertgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam — a recognition of excellence given by the Vriendenkrans Concours. He earned a bachelor of Music from the Royal College of Music in London and has received two master's degrees from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and from the Amsterdam Conservatory.
His stop in Riverside is one of just four performances this year in California.
