Training

Riverside Community College District is committed to fostering a safe, health, and vibrant campus community at Riverside City College, Norco College, and Moreno Valley College. As part of this commitment we are implementing an online training tool through CampusClarity.

Each college has resource materials available on campus and online to help students understand the following concepts:

  • Definition of stalking

  • Root causes of sexual assault

  • Understanding sexual consent

  • Characteristics of sexual assault perpetrators

  • Alcohol as the most common rape drug

  • Sexual assault prevention

  • Bystander intervention strategies

  • College resources

CampusClarity for Students: Think About It (FAQs)

Why is this training important and how does it impact me?
The rates of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking are alarming. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, “1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of [some form] of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime”. There are many forms of relationship abuse and violence that is not physical. In order to help, it is essential to recognize the signs and learn how to intervene.

Why should I participate?
There are people sitting next to you in class, at the library, the computer lab, in the cafeteria, and all around campus who are experiencing or have experienced intimate partner violence. In addition to sexual assault, this training includes identifying the signs of abusive relationships, sexual harassment and stalking. You will learn how to report and what type of support services and resources that the college can provide to students who are impacted by these experiences.

What is CampusClarity?
CampusClarity is the company that the District and many other colleges and universities throughout the nation have contracted with to provide the online training.

Who sees my information once I have submitted my answers?
You are not required to answer questions within the training. You can skip past them if you choose. The goal is to provide information, not test you on it.

Do I have to take the training? What happens if I don’t?
Under the Campus Save Act, schools are required to offer training to their students on sexual violence prevention, we are not currently required to mandate it, however we strongly believe this is valuable for everyone. There is no penalty for students who fail to complete the training.

If I transfer to another school within the District, will I have to retake the training?
All colleges within the Riverside Community College District (Moreno Valley College, Norco College and Riverside City College) are utilizing the same training module with the intent that a student would only have to take it once.
