A Tradition of Serving Disabled Students
RCCD’s Disabled Students Programs and Services Office has been serving individuals with disabilities for more than 45 years!
The district became the first, public, post-secondary institution in the country to begin a program of support services specifically for students with disabilities in 1961. That year, it provided services to 12 students. We currently serve about 2,000 students with disabilities.
RCCD is in the process of developing a district-wide ADA Transition Plan to improve accessibility and remove barriers to individuals with disabilities at all three colleges.
The district’s Offices of Disabled Students Programs and Services offer comprehensive support services and accommodations at all three colleges plus access to high-tech adaptive computer technology.
Accommodations are determined based on the educational limitations of the documented disability. If you have a documented disability resulting in an educational limitation, then you are eligible for academic support services.
