Dr. Torria Davis, Interim Dean of Distance Education
Dr. Davis comes to RCCD with more than a decade of distance education experience with expertise in integrating quality course design standards within the learning management system, online curriculum development and course facilitation, faculty training and professional development, and integrating emerging technologies with researched-based teaching methodologies. Dr. Davis holds a doctorate in Philosophy in Education with an emphasis in Urban Educational Leadership from Claremont Graduate University. In addition, she is the author of Visual Design for Online Learning, as well as a researcher, presenter, and an award-winning course designer.

Gabriela Estrada Toro, Administrative Assistant
Gabriela is the glue that holds our department together. Responsible for overseeing all the day-to-day tasks needed to keep our department going, Gabriela has extensive experience working with academic management and staff to accomplish the goals and objectives of the District. Serving as the first line of contact for our department, Gabriela is always there to make sure things get done!

Derek Moore, Support Specialist
Derek has been serving Distance Education needs for RCCD distance education faculty for over 19 years! Derek’s wealth of experience allows him to provide excellent technical assistance and training to faculty in Canvas, including use of native Canvas tools and integration of third-party applications into Canvas. If you need Canvas training, help with building your Canvas class, setting up course content, Canvas tools/apps, and related educational technology - or if there's a problem with how things are working in Canvas, Derek is the person to call! He also provides video recording services to faculty, especially course introductions. Derek works primarily at RCC and Norco College.

DJ Hawkins, Assistant Director, Instructional Design
DJ has taught English within RCCD for 12 years. In 2016 and 2019, she earned @ONE certificates in Online Education Standards & Practices and Advanced Online Teaching Principles. Additional, she has badged in @ONE's POCR course and Instructure's Canvas Studio and Canvas Administrator Prime. DJ facilitated @ONE courses, created a new @ONE course, and creates and hosts workshop presentations for CVC-OEI, @ONE, and the Online Teaching Conference (OTC). In 2019, she began working as a Professional Expert Instructional Designer for RCCD's Distance Education Department. In January of 2021, she accepted the position of Interim Assistant Director of Instructional Design in RCCD's Distance Education Department. In July of 2021, DJ accepted the position of Assistant Director of Instructional Design. In addition to supervising the Accessibility and Course Developer Teams, DJ facilitates workshops and training courses while supporting faculty directly during 1:1 appointments.

Anish Bhatia, Accessible Technology & Media Coordinator
Anish has taught Computer Information Systems courses at Riverside City College and Moreno Valley College as a member of the associate faculty. He conducted various faculty training seminars in online education technology for the district. He has also taught courses in world religions at U.C. Davis. He provided faculty support for Distance Education at MVC in 2020. Anish joined the A-Team and started working as an Accessible Technology & Media Coordinator at RCCD in 2021.

Sandra Xochipiltecatl, Professional Expert Course Developer
Sandra has a Masters in Mesoamerican Studies and in Anthropology. She has experience in online education and has participated in digital projects in Mexico and the United States. Sandra has been teaching Anthropology online for Moreno Valley College, Norco College, and other universities in the region, where she built her courses using Canvas. During the last year, Sandra worked in MVC’s DE Den as a Sidekick, supporting faculty with their online course development. She is excited to join the District Distance Education department as a Course Developer.

Diana Myers Hyatt, Professional Expert Course Developer
Diana has an MBA and a Masters in Library and Information Science. She has 20 years’ experience as a Graphic Designer. Diana has taught online Information Literacy courses for all three RCCD campuses. In 2019, she provided support to RCC faculty in developing their online courses. In 2020, she earned the @ONE Certificate for Online Teaching and Design. Additionally, she completed the RCCD Accessibility Mentor training and spent Spring 2021 supporting faculty. She fell in love with developing Canvas course and video content during the pandemic and looks forward to helping RCCD instructors to better serve our students through course development.

Dr. Susan Finley, Professional Expert Course Developer
Susan is an educator and mental health advocate. She received her Doctor of Education from Pepperdine University in Organizational Leadership. Susan has developed and taught psychology and counseling courses onsite and fully online for public and private colleges for over 13 years. During that time, she built and provided online course development support to faculty using various online learning platforms including Canvas. She is very excited to be based out of the Norco campus and looks forward to assisting faculty with online course development.

Stefanie Tate, Professional Expert Course Developer
Stefanie earned her Master's Degree in Educational Policy and Leadership from Stanford University after spending nearly a decade working in California's public schools. She has experience teaching English in a variety of educational settings, including fully online and hybrid modalities. In each of her teaching roles, Stefanie joyfully supported course development and exploration of digital tools that could improve student learning outcomes and optimize instructor workflow. In 2012, Stefanie initiated her school district's Canvas pilot program. Since then, she has built her own online courses, shared templates with colleagues, and assisted them in developing online courses that fit their individual needs. She is excited to join RCCD and its efforts to support faculty online with their course development.
