District DE offers self-paced, self-enroll courses where faculty can learn about important instructional topics and earn badges toward FLEX credit. If you have any questions about any of these DEFT learning modules and training courses,
contact the indicated facilitator. Or email your availability to
make a 1:1 appointment to discuss any of the topics covered. If you’d like, we can also assist you with applying what you’ve learned in your course. We’re happy to help!
Learning Modules

Optional: The
RSI Interaction Learning Modules provide information on Regular and Substantive Interactions, how to use Canvas tools to increase the interactions in your course(s), and RSI examples faculty have shared from their courses. At this time, all faculty can self-enroll to access the information in these learning modules. There is no hands-on work required, and these training modules are optional. However, if you would like FLEX credit, there is a self-assessment that you need to complete. The Instructional Designer can answer any questions you have.

Optional: The
TextExpander module covers how to safeguard privacy while using this tool. Once you’ve completed the module, you’ll complete a form to set up your TextExpander Account. This learning module is required if you want to use this tool. FLEX credit is available upon completion. The Accessible Technology & Media Coordinator can answer any questions you have.

Optional: The
Accessibility Checklist is a self-enroll Canvas learning module created to explain and help instructors align their content with Section D of the
OEI Course Design Rubric. The information in this module will help instructors explore the "what, why, and how" of Section D accessibility topics and provide simple solutions to increase the accessibility of their course content. Additionally, this module will explain some of the
Accessibility Basics when using the RCE, utilizing video and media, and creating files.
Training Courses

RCCD Course Design Camp -- This 4-module, self-paced course, focused on course development, design, facilitation, and equitable learning outcomes for all student groups, satisfies RCCD’s online teaching certification requirements. There are no course start and end dates or assignment due dates, allowing for the completion of online teaching requirements throughout the year.

Once you have a Canvas account, sign in to Canvas and self-enroll in RCCD Course Design Camp. Upon self-enrollment into the course, you will find additional directions and guidance for course completion.
If you believe you have met certification requirements through other means, please submit evidence of completion to the
RCCD Certification Evidence form. NOTE: Sixteen (16) hours of FLEX credit is available to faculty who complete RCCD Course Design Camp.

Optional: RCCD's
Accessibility Training course covers UDL strategies for creating accessible files, videos, and content in Canvas. All faculty can self-enroll in this 4-module, optional, self-paced accessibility course. On average, faculty can complete this training in about 5 hours. There is no hands-on work required, but there are module assessments that will earn faculty badges that can be submitted for FLEX credit. The Accessible Technology & Media Coordinator can answer any questions you have.

Optional: Online Canvas Academy -- RCCD's Online Canvas Academy (OCA) is a self-enroll, self-paced course that trains faculty in Canvas basics including Modules, Pages, Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes, and other tools. All faculty are welcome in this 4-module course to learn or review these skills. The Instructional Designer can answer any questions you have.
