Riverside Community College District Graduation Information
Who is eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony?
- Students who have met the AA or AS degree requirements and have applied for graduation before the Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring deadlines of the current academic 2010-2011 year.
- Students who have petitioned for an AA or AS degree and are missing no more than 9 units to
graduate. Students must register for the coming summer session.
- Students who have completed Certificate of Achievement requirements (18+ units) and have
applied for graduation before the Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring deadlines of the current
academic 2010-2011 year.
How many units must be completed at the college in order to graduate?
To receive a degree an A.A. or A.S. degree a student must complete 15 units in residence at any campus within the Riverside Community College District. To receive a certificate a student must complete a minimum of 50% of the required units within the Riverside Community College District.
What if I am missing coursework and would like to participate in commencement?
Students who apply during the application periods may participate in the Commencement ceremony as long as they are missing no more than 9 units to graduate.
If I am graduating in the summer, or mid-year, can I still walk in the June graduation?
The June commencement ceremony is for all those who have been declared eligible since the last ceremony. That includes students who finished their requirements during the previous summer and fall as well as those completing their work during the current spring term.
What are the Certificate of Achievement Requirements?
The state-approved certificates consist of coursework totaling 18 units or more completed in a specific occupational college certificate pattern. State approved certificates may lead to employment competency and may also lead to an associate degree.
Who are the honor graduates?
Honors at commencement will be awarded to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher. Their names are listed in the commencement program as receiving the Associate Degree with Distinction (3.30 GPA) or with Great Distinction (3.70 GPA). A gold tassel will be worn by students graduating with honors. Coursework taken during the final spring semester will not be used to calculate honors at commencement. Grade point averages are not rounded up. The cumulative GPA includes coursework taken at Riverside Community College District and at all other regionally accredited colleges and universities.
What if I need proof of my graduation right now?
Your graduation will be noted on your official transcripts six to eight weeks after the term ends. Once the degree is posted you can order a copy of your official transcripts online by logging into WebAdvsior and clicking on Order an Official RCC Transcript.
How do I get my cap and gown for the ceremony?
Information will be posted on the website in May.
Do I have to wear a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony?
Yes. You will not be able to participate in the event without the appropriate attire.
Will I get my diploma or certificate at the ceremony?
Diplomas and Certificates will not be given out at the graduation ceremony. They will be mailed approximately 16 weeks after the term in which requirements are completed and after the award is posted to the student’s record.
