Student Scholar Stories

Many RCCD students would be forced to abandon their dreams of higher education and a meaningful career if not for the scholarships provided by our generous donors.

Meet just a few of our scholars and hear what they have to say:

“This scholarship is really important for me on so many levels. I am really determined to succeed and change my life and doing so is a struggle at times…Being chosen for a scholarship is such an incredible feeling! This has increased by self-esteem as well as boosted my confidence. I take great pride in my studies and in turning my life around, and I am so grateful and appreciative of any and all the help I receive. “Thanks to your generous support I am the first in my family to attend college. Living with a disability is not easy. It has not only offered financial and academic challenges, but has also helped me realize the value of a college education...These scholarships have helped me achieve my goals through success as a student. I have learned the values of education from the faculty, administration and staff at Moreno Valley College. My educational pursuits would not be               possible without your generous support. Thank you for enabling this opportunity!”

Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship

“I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor and I am deeply appreciative of your support. I am a first-generation college student majoring in Film & Television with hopes of becoming a successful screenwriter.  The financial assistance you provided will be of great help to me in paying my educational expenses as I transfer to the University of California, Los Angeles, in the fall. By awarding me the Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship, I am now able to concentrate on what is important to me, education...Your support has allowed me to be one step closer to my goal and has enlightened me on the importance of giving back to the community. I hope to one day help other students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”

Arnie Sherman Memorial Endowed Scholarship

“This financial assistance will help me purchase the supplies and books needed for my classes this year – and with the rising prices of school-related necessities, this scholarship will make an even bigger difference in my life. Not having to worry as much about how to pay for my classes will allow me to focus my efforts more on academic success.  This scholarship will also serve as encouragement for me; through this scholarship I am reminded that despite my financial need, there are resources in the world that can aid me on my path to academic completion.”

Kaiser Foundation Hospital Endowed Nursing Scholarship

“This generous gift has greatly helped me with achieving my goals in becoming a nurse.  Financial support in the form of a scholarship helps make becoming a nurse possible. It helps pay for books, supplies and equipment that will be needed to ensure that I am successful in the nursing program. It also goes on to help me become a Registered Nurse, and in turn an advocate for my future patients. My goal is to get my bachelor’s in nursing and eventually work in the emergency room, and this scholarship has helped me get closer to attaining that goal. I’m extremely thankful. I appreciate the time that has been given to help me achieve my future plans and for the generosity that I have been shown.”
