RCCD Police Department Officer to Compete in World Police and Fire Games

 

Clint SanduskyMoreno Valley College Senior Police Officer Clint Sandusky will compete at the 2011 World Police and Fire Games in New York City. An estimated 15,000 athletes will participate in the competition, which takes place August 26 through September 5.  Sandusky is scheduled to race in the cross country mountain bike event.

“I will represent our district and department by going to honor the police officers and firefighters who paid the ultimate sacrifice,” said Sandusky who plans to attend 9/11 remembrance activities.

The World Police and Fire Games website shows the mountain bike event as a two-mile circuit over field trails and forest, dirt and gravel roads.  The race will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Sandusky has nearly 20 years experience as a bicycle officer and as a trainer of other sworn officers for bike patrol.

“I believe Senior Officer Sandusky is the right choice to represent our District at the 2011WPFG. He has proven his dedication in protecting all who come to our colleges,” said Gustavo Segura, president, RCCD Employees Chapter 535. “I support his efforts and ask that you join me in supporting Officer Sandusky’s dream as he represents Riverside Community College District.”

Travel, lodging, competition fees, and other costs are the responsibility of competitors. Sandusky is a member of California School Employees Association (CSEA), and Chapter 535 officers have set up a fund for those who wish to support his effort.  Donations can be sent to Pam Kollar, Chapter treasurer, 1533 Spruce Street, Riverside, CA  92507.  Checks must be made payable to CSEA #535 and should reference Clint Sandusky in the memo line.
