Marching Tigers Perform for 126th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade ~ January 1, 2015
The Marching Tigers accepted an 11th-hour invitation from the Tournament of Roses Parade Committee. The band performed the two-and-a-half-minute grand finale for the 126th annual parade, a fixture on New Year’s Day. The performance was the band’s eighth appearance in the Rose Parade, which is considered the “granddaddy” of holiday parades. Nearly one million spectators will line the Colorado Boulevard parade route while over 300 million will watch the worldwide television broadcast.

RCC Culinary Academy Serve the Needy for Thanksgiving ~ November 22, 2014
Riverside City College’s Culinary Academy students cooked and served Thanksgiving lunch to the homeless and needy families for the eighth consecutive year. Thanks to sponsors like Stater Bros., the Riverside County Economic Development Agency, Burke Bros and the American Culinary Federation, the program was able to feed approximately 500 guests at the 2015 event.
RCCD Chancellor Burke Welcome Reception ~ September 4, 2014
On Thursday, September 4, approximately 150 community members and friends of the Riverside Community College District gathered at a reception to welcome RCCD Chancellor, Michael L. Burke and his wife Deborah. The reception took place at the historic Mission Inn and was hosted by the RCCD Board of Trustees and the RCCD Foundation.
2014 Commencement ~ June 12, 2014
The Riverside Community College District celebrated the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year with graduation celebrations at each of its three campuses on Thursday, June 12. The three colleges figure to award a total of 5,663 degrees and certificates. Riverside City College, which honored its 97th graduating class, had 3,099 students eligible for either a degree or a certificate. Meanwhile, Norco College and Moreno Valley College, each celebrating its 23rd graduating class, figured to award 1,510 and 1,054 degrees or certificates, respectively. 54th Annual Faculty Lecture Presenting Dr. Rhonda Taube ~ May 8, 2014
Each year, the faculty selects an educator from their ranks to address the college community. Being selected as the Distinguished Faculty Lecturer is a significant honor recognizing an individual’s outstanding teaching skills and contributions to the District and its students. The 54th Distinguished Faculty Lecturer was Rhonda Taube, associate professor or Art History. Dr. Taube incorporated her love of Central American art and traditions into a lecture: “Journeys of the Spirit and Body: Performances, Gender, and Globalization in Highland Guatemala.” The lecture showcased her experiences as a scholar in the field.

The fourth annual Industry and Advisory Breakfast was held on Friday, May 2. Business leaders throughout the Inland Empire met to discuss ways to improve the Inland Empire’s workforce capabilities and how Norco College can strengthen the Inland Empire’s workforce. RCCD Annual Recognition Awards & Arts Gala ~ April 24, 2014
Each spring the District honors distinguished alumni, while raising funds for the District’s music programs. The Gala, which features live-student performances from each of the District’s three colleges, recognized four individuals, a business (Edison International) and a community group responsible for the building of the Starting Blocks Program, which teaches at-risk children how to swim as well as water safety. Moreno Valley College Cesar Chavez Scholarship Breakfast ~ March 28, 2014
Ana María Espinoza, a Riverside City College graduate who walked with Cesar Chavez and worked for the United Farm Workers Union, was the keynote speaker at Moreno Valley College’s ¡Sí Se Puede! (Yes We Can) Scholarship Breakfast. Proceeds from the breakfast benefited MVC’s scholarship fund.
MVC students and local high school students participated in a Visual Arts Competition, entries were accepted in five categories: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and video.
